There comes a point in most people’s lives, no matter what job you have, when your hard work pays off. As a singer/songwriter, I believe this time is very close. With “Now Here” releasing on February 25th it makes all of the performances, all of the hours in the studio, the countless afternoons and evenings marketing, planning and practicing, seem so much more important than I thought it was.
If I hadn’t spent days driving around handing out press kits, marketing my music online, or performing whenever an opportunity arose, this CD wouldn’t mean so much to me. Hard work and passion make you want your dreams so much more because hard work and passion turn those dreams into a reality. If someone would have told me three years ago that I would eventually be spending my days performing music, writing songs, etc., I would have laughed in their face. At the time, I had the passion for the music but I didn’t know the steps to take to work towards my goals.
But with the help, belief and support of quite a few people, I was able to start laying a very solid foundation for Rebecca Day Music. Performing when I was under the weather; making cold calls to venues to try and get gigs; all trials and tribulations and all accomplishments thus far have shaped this CD and made it what it is.
While a year ago “Now Here” seemed like it was never going to get finished, today I wouldn’t have it any other way. The CD is coming out at the perfect time. A time when music, support, happiness and hope all have a place at the release and are all engrained in the songs of the CD much like they are now engrained in me. To anyone who ever felt I could not succeed and to everyone who has stuck by me through this journey: Thank you. “Now Here” is a testament to that.
